Where is the OTC Dental Clinic located?
The dental clinic is located on the Springfield campus. The physical address is 815 N. Sherman Avenue, Springfield, MO, 65802. You can contact the dental clinic office at 417-447-8835.
What types of dental services are provided?
The OTC dental clinic currently provides oral assessments and preventive dental care. This consists of dental examinations, radiographs, periodontal assessments, oral cancer screenings, preventive treatment, and different types of dental cleanings.
How long do appointments take?
Since this is a learning environment, appointments usually take longer than in a general dental practice. Appointments can last anywhere from 1 ½ to 3 hours depending on the recommended treatment. Depending on the severity of the periodontal issues, it may be necessary to schedule multiple appointments. All student performance needs to be evaluated by clinical faculty.
What is the cancellation policy?
We require a 48 hour notice of cancellation, except in the case of inclement weather. If you are unable to keep your appointment, please contact us immediately to reschedule or make that appointment available to another client. Appointments are filled based on schedule availability.
Can I continue to schedule follow up dental cleanings?
After your preventive dental treatment is completed in our clinic, you will be asked to follow up with regular visits in a general dental practice. If you do not have a regular dental home, we have many excellent dentists in our Springfield community.
Will I be with the same student?
You will see the same student at your appointments unless the student has graduated. Then, you will be given to a different student in the program.
Do you use anesthetic during dental cleanings?
Following your examination, a treatment plan will be developed for you. If anesthetic is needed during your appointment, a licensed faculty member will supervise the anesthetic administration. We use a local anesthetic and nitrous oxide-oxygen is available.
