The mission of the Ozarks Technical Community College Safety and Security Department is to strive to ensure a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors in partnership with all members of the campus community.

Developing a safe and secure environment at an academic institution is the responsibility of the entire community, security personnel, students, faculty, and staff. Within our community, the OTC Safety & Security Department is assigned the primary responsibility of identifying programs, methods, and approaches to help the institution maintain a reasonably safe and secure environment.

The OTC Safety & Security Department has approximately 50 security officers and staff serving the campus community at all five OTC Campus/Center locations. Security personnel are responsible for unlocking and locking campus buildings and performing routine laboratory and building inspections for fire and other safety-related problems. Security personnel also patrol buildings, parking lots and campus grounds.

First aid kits and AEDs are placed on each campus/center and are inspected monthly by the Safety & Security Department to ensure the kits are properly stocked and AED’s are functioning properly.  Each member of the Safety & Security Department serves as a first responder and is trained by American Heart Association standards in CPR/AED and 1st Aid and respond to all medical emergencies and injuries.

OTC Safety & Security dispatchers monitor telephones and a two-way radio service to provide information and direct response to emergencies. They can immediately request fire or emergency medical service and communicate with local and state law enforcement agencies when needed. Dispatchers monitor the national weather service radio network for severe weather information.
